Q.What time should I DO Yoga?

Well it is up to you, If you do in the morning without eating anything, it is the best time as you feel more energetic. But if you do in the evening your body is more flexible, so the Asana will be easier to do. Also if you practice Yoga after coming from work (EMPTY STOMACH OR AFTER 3-5 HOURS AFTER EATING LUNCH OR DINNER), you will feel that your tiredness is gone altogether. So Yoga gives you freshness instead of tiredness. Do it yourself and see. Remember only Asana which could be performed after a dinner is Vajar Asana, which actually helps to digest food.

Q. Should I take bath after or before Yoga?

Yogis recommend to take bath before Yoga. This freshens your body and mind which helps you concentrate into your body to prevent injury. if you want to take bath after don't take bath straight after Yoga, wait for 20 minutes at least.

Q. Where should I do Yoga?

As Yoga Asana relate to breathing so it is important that where you do Yoga there should be a cross ventilation of the fresh air. Air should not be too strong to hit your body directly. It is best if you could Practice Yoga in a garden or open air provided there is no strong wind.

Q.What should I wear while practicing Yoga?

Anything which is most comfortable and flexible which should not hinder your postures in any way. Men better put on shorts or underwear only. Women can put on flexible comfortable trousers and tops.

Q. I am feeling to go to toilet, should I continue Yoga?

No, before starting Yoga empty your bowels and go to toilet if you are feeling a need to. If you start feeling during the exercises, Stop your exercise and go to toilet first then you can continue.

Q.How should I breath?

Breath through your nose only and don't open your mouth during the exercises.

Q. Should I practice Yoga on my mattress?

No, you can only practice Yoga on a blanket or something not thicker than one to two inches. Reason is that you need to have your certain points on your body which needs to be under pressure while on the floor so if you have thick mattress, it will not give you the full benefits of the posture.

Q.How should I do yoga? There is no flexibility in my body.

Well that's why you will do Yoga, to create flexibility.

Q.When I will be able to do the complete Asana, it seems that It is too difficult?

Initially it will be difficult or almost impossible to complete a certain Asana. But don't worry keep trying and don't use extra force to complete the Asana. Whatever is your final position, take it as your complete Asana. Remember if you start feeling pain at the point of stress STOP there and don't do that Asana for thee or four days. Don't use sudden jerks to complete the Asana as it might result in muscle injury Or even joint pain. So Do every Asana slowly and steadily. You will see the flexibility will increase with time. If you massage your body with your hands before starting Yoga, it helps to make the Asana easier.

Q.How long should I do a certain Asana?

Well it really depends upon a person. You can do an Asana until you think that you cant hold it any more. Your time will increase as you will spend more time in the Yoga. Then you will feel more comfortable in an Asana for longer time. Don't over do it in the beginning. Initially do an Asana for up to four Seconds, then later on you can increase the time.

Q.What should be my order of exercises?

It is common sense that start from the low profile exercises and do the more stretchy ones later.

Q. I have come back after jogging, can I do Yoga now?

Certainly you can do Yoga after as Yoga has has the benefits of its own, but wait for at least half an hour. If you don't have time today leave it for tomorrow. You cant say that I want to do it in quick time. Yes there are certain Asana like Surya Numaskar which got to be done on its own not to be combined with other Asana

Q. I have a little Kid, should I get him practice Yoga?

According to the Yoga rules Kids should not do Yoga untill they are at the minimum age of 10. When they start should be supervised well and don't let them do difficult Asana as their bones are delicate. Let them practice easier Yoga. Once they learn it properly they will be well trained to do the difficult Asana's at the later age.

Q.My dad is 70 years old, should he practice Yoga?

Yes of course, but at later age bones are more brittle so let him do the basic Asana's there are certain Asana's which are very good at this age. One should not practice every Asana at this age unless he/she is in Yoga practice from years. Later I will have a section in this web site on Old Age Yoga.

Q. I am a heart patient should I do Yoga?

Yes Yoga will help you in decreasing the risk of heart attack. But first of all consult your doctor about doing Yoga. If it is ok, start Yoga with milder exercises. But still there are certain Asana which are prohibited in heart patients. Later I will Add some exercises for the patients suffering from this disease. Heart Patient Exercises.

Q. I am pregnant, should I do Yoga?

Yes but only the recommended Asana's If you have never done Yoga before better avoid it. I will recommend some Asana's in separate section which are really safe in pregnancy.

Q. Should I do Yoga during my monthly cycles (periods).

No. You should not do Yoga during this time.
